Workshop to focus on growing vegetables in small spaces
University of Nevada Cooperative Extension is presenting a workshop on growing vegetables in small spaces Oct. 1 from 8 a.m. to noon.
The workshop, to be taught by Dr. Angela O'Callaghan, is designed to show you how to make the most of your small space. Topics such as types of containers to use, differences in potting mixes, using artificial light, fertilizers, success with seeds and more will be covered.
Class space is limited and advance registration is required. There is a $20 fee, which includes class materials.
The session will be held at the Cooperative Extension's Lifelong Learning Center, 8050 Paradise Road, located near Windmill Lane and the Las Vegas Beltway.

Learn how to shop at design center at informative tour
Las Vegas Design Center, located within World Market Center Las Vegas, will present several workshops/tours to teach area residents how to shop at the downtown facility and take advantage of its resources.
Design Center 101: How to Shop the Las Vegas Design Center will be presented from 10:30-11:30 a.m. Oct. 8.
The program will begin in showroom C176 with coffee, bagels and an overview of the design center. From there, participants will tour the facility, which will include a stop at the Design Salon that provides on-site interior designers who offer free one-hour consultations and can facilitate purchases and provide design services.
The design center, located on the first two floors of Buildings A and C, has more than 40 showrooms featuring 200 product lines.
The workshop and tour also will be offered Oct. 22 and Nov. 5.
