Miller’s Ale House offers affordable variety

In these thrifty times, finding an affordable quality meal away from home once in a while is more important -- to the wallet, as well as to the psyche -- than ever.
And that could make the recent opening of Miller's Ale House at Town Square as timely as ever.
General manager Mike Dowell describes Miller's Ale House, 6683 Las Vegas Blvd. South, as a casual dining, family-friendly restaurant with a sports/nautical theme.
"It's just a very bright, very open concept," he says.
The Las Vegas location is the 51st for the Florida-based chain and its first in the West. And since it opened its doors on July 18, Dowell says, "word of mouth is getting out and people are really excited about it."
"A lot of it has to do with our prices, our value and also the food quality," Dowell says, and diners also find Miller's diverse menu appealing.
There are, of course, steaks, ribs, sandwiches, fajitas and burgers. But Miller's Ale House also offers diners a raw bar featuring clams on the half shell, steamed clams and raw and steamed oysters, as well as such entrees as Bahamian mahi mahi, baby back ribs and osso bucco.
Guests "can come in two or three times a week and take something totally different off the menu," Dowell says.
Popular offerings include chicken wings and the restaurant's signature Zingers -- boneless chicken wings served with a choice of nine sauces ranging from mild to "Mount St. Helens" -- and mahi mahi fish tacos, which, Dowell says, so far have been "our No. 1 seller" here.
A kid's menu features $3.99 meals with such entrees as chicken fingers, pizza, hot dogs and macaroni and cheese, all of which include a soft drink and a dessert. Parents, Dowell notes, appreciate that "we don't do gaming here."
Sports fans can watch games on more than 70 flat-screen, HDTVs, and diners also can spend some time playing pool or arcade games or listening to tunes on a jukebox. Miller's offers daily drink specials, as well as bottle service featuring half-bottles.
Miller's Ale House is open from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. Sundays through Thursdays and from 11 a.m to 3 a.m. Fridays and Saturdays.
