HIKES
Red Rock Canyon: On Monday, join a geologist to discuss the rock formations, plants and animals encountered on a moderate, two-mile hike in the Calico Basin; for ages 10 and older. On Thursday, join a naturalist for an easy hike to observe some of Red Rock’s wild burros; for ages 15 and older. On Aug. 18, look for early birds and other wildlife on a moderate, 2½-mile hike to Pine Creek.

Around the Bend Friends: This group of people 50 and older who are involved in hiking and related social activities plans several hikes each week of various difficulty levels, including an easy-to-moderate social hike on Saturdays. OTHER PROGRAMS
Red Rock Canyon: On Tuesday, create a masterpiece in an art class for ages 15 and older. Also on Tuesday, view some of the arachnids, reptiles, birds and mammals found in Red Rock. On Wednesday, kids ages 6 to 8 can learn about desert tortoises as part of the junior naturalist program. On Saturday, kids ages 9 to 12 can learn about desert birds as part of the junior naturalist program.
