Prom-themed gala raises funds for Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation

The '70s were celebrated during a prom-themed fundraiser July 10 benefiting the Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation.

The party, sponsored by Champagne Life Luxury Events and Silverton hotel-casino, took place in the Silverton's Veil Pavilion. Arriving guests received complimentary opportunity tickets for a drawing for bottles of libations and show and dinner tickets.

There was a traditional prom photo backdrop for professional photos. Complimentary Moscato in four flavors was provided by Nicki Minaj and Myx Fusions Moscato.

Tickets could be purchased for a VIP Lounge sponsored by XXIV Karat Sparkling Wine. A sweets bar served assorted cupcakes by Nothing Bundt Cakes and bowls of gourmet popcorn by Popcorn Girl.

The prom's master of ceremonies was Mike Susara of High Flyin' Entertainment. Susara began the dancing with everyone on the dance floor relearning steps to "Electric Slide." DJ Chavonne kept the hits of the '70s flowing till midnight.

Judging the dance contest were Jaime and Adam Naglich. The dance contest winner for the ladies was Valerie Berroud, and for the men, the winner was Justin Cook.

Danielle and Jeff VanHam were elected queen and king of the prom.

Partygoers included Louis Polk, Terry McCurdy, Chris Farley, Debbie Hale, Mike Monahan, Kay Kolbo, Glenn Griffen, Ryan Hamilton, Tina and Craig Hamilton, Matt Foley, Desiree Acedo, Edward Grados, Bob Heyman, Inessa Pasternak and Tom Slaughter, Lisa Green, Alahni Reyes, Michelle Tomasiello, Martha Murray, Doll Morres and Scott Wergin.

Representing the Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation was Stephanie Parker, vice president, marketing and development director of the nonprofit organization. She thanked the event's supporters before leaving for Camp Cartwheel to meet with the children arriving at the summer camp.

This outdoor experience is designed to help children with cancer and other illnesses and their siblings. Youngsters ages 5 to 17 participate in swimming, hiking, arts and crafts, canoeing and other activities while under medical supervision on the Torino Ranch in Southern Nevada.

Champagne Life Luxury Events, owned by Danielle Heyman, customizes gifts such as wine and food baskets, and private labeled wine and Champagne bottles, plus extravagant events for all occasions.
