Green Valley United Methodist Church, 2200 Robindale Road, Henderson, will present a benefit concert featuring Geena Mattox (formerly of "Phantom -- the Las Vegas Spectacular"), Juline Gilmore and Cheryl Johnston at 2:30 p.m. Sunday. A freewill offering will be taken. The concert will support the church's mission to build a well in Sierra Leone through the Raining Season nonprofit organization (454-7989).

Christ Episcopal Church, 2000 S. Maryland Parkway, will present a concert featuring the Thisted Church Choir of Men and Boys from Denmark at 7:30 p.m. Friday. Admission is free (735-7655).

First Presbyterian Church of Las Vegas, 1515 W. Charleston Blvd., will present a patriotic concert featuring organist David Dorway and Friends at 12:30 p.m. July 3. Admission is free (384-4554).

EVENTS

Good Samaritan Lutheran Church, 8425 W. Windmill Lane, will have a car wash 8 a.m.-noon July 2 at the church. Proceeds will benefit the church's Mexico mission trip. Tickets are $5, and are available after services (873-3589).

Center for Spiritual Living Greater Las Vegas, 1420 E. Harmon Ave., will present a discussion with Bishop Carlton Pearson at 7 p.m. July 7. The event also will feature musical guest Genevieve Dew. General admission is $20. VIP admission is $60 and includes a copy of Pearson's new book and a pre-event reception (739-8200).

In honor of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, a novena will take place July 8-16 at St. Bridget Roman Catholic Church, 220 N. 14th St. The Rev. Cornelio Jaranilla Jr., a Carmelite priest, will be the celebrant. Confessions will begin at 6 p.m. followed by a rosary recitation at 6:30 and Mass at 7 on weekdays. For July 9, 10 and 16, the novena will begin at 5 p.m. (384-3382).

The Word Alive Church Inc., 2412 Tam Drive, will serve meals to children free of charge as part of the Summer Food Service Program. Meals will be served through Aug. 27 on the following days and times: breakfast, 9-10 a.m. Sundays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays; lunch, noon-1 p.m. Sundays and Tuesdays; and supper, 5-6 p.m. Wednesdays and Saturdays (684-5866).

SERVICES

Reformation Lutheran Church, 580 E. St. Louis Ave., will have a combined Christian Unity Worship Service with Nueva Vida Baptist Church and Eden Presbyterian Church at noon July 3. A potluck will follow the service (732-2052).

Singles groups

New Life Christian Center has a singles meeting at 7 p.m. the second Friday of the month at 1229 E. Carson Ave. (387-5433).

Single Adults Learning Together, or SALT Ministries of CornerStone Christian Fellowship, meets at 6 p.m. Saturdays at 5825 W. Eldora Ave. (871-5050).
