MUSIC

First Presbyterian Church of Las Vegas, 1515 W. Charleston Blvd., will host a handbell concert featuring the Harmony and Summerlin Handbell Choirs at 2 p.m. April 28. Admission is free. A freewill offering will be taken (384-4554).

Mountain View Presbyterian Church, 8601 Del Webb Blvd, will host a benefit concert for Family Promise of Las Vegas at 3 p.m. April 28. The concert will feature vocalist Haleyann Hart and friends. Admission is free. A freewill offering will be taken (341-7800).

SERVICE

Christ Church Episcopal, 2000 S. Maryland Parkway, will hold a service celebrating the institution of its new rector, the Rev. J. Barry Vaughn, at 6 p.m. May 4. The Rt. Rev. Dan T. Edwards, Bishop of Nevada, will preside. Guest speakers will be the Rev. Dr. A.B. Sutton, senior minister of Living Stones Temple in Birmingham, Ala., and Rabbi Jonathan Miller, senior rabbi at Temple Emanu-El in Birmingham (735-7655).

First Presbyterian Church, 1515 W. Charleston Blvd., will celebrate the 60th anniversary of the formation of the church with a special service at 10:30 a.m. May 5. A celebration will follow the service in the church’s Social Hall (384-4554).

EVENTS

The youth group of Green Valley Presbyterian Church, 1798 Wigwam Parkway, Henderson, will have a swap meet and car wash from 7 a.m. to noon today. The car wash will begin at 8:30 a.m. (454-8484, ext. 245).

Calvary Chapel Spring Valley will have the Running with the Lions 5k, to benefit Calvary Chapel Christian School, at 8 a.m. today at the school’s athletic field, 7175 W. Oquendo Drive. The event is also the finale for the church and schoolwide fitness program “Couch to 5K.” The event is open to the public. Adult registration is $35 and child registration is $25. Henderson Church of the Nazarene, will present “Ignite,” an outdoor event featuring music, games, a Bible discussion and a free meal, from 5 to 7 p.m. April 27 at the north end of O’Callaghan Park, which is at Horizon Drive and Greenway Road (739-4556).

St. Viator School Foundation’s 25th anniversary Foundation Dinner Auction will be at 5:30 p.m. April 27 in the Grand Ballroom at South Point, 9777 Las Vegas Blvd. South. The event will begin with hosted cocktails and silent auction, followed by dinner, dancing and a live auction. Tickets are $140 per person (svstickets.org).

Central Christian Church, 1001 New Beginnings Drive, Henderson, will host the Women of Faith “Celebrate What Matters: Up Close” at 7 p.m. May 3 and 9 a.m. May 4.
