EVENTS

The District Convention of Jehovah's Witnesses will be held through Sunday in Burns Arena at Dixie State College in St. George, Utah. The convention's theme is "Safeguard Your Heart." The event is open to the public, and all sessions are free. The morning sessions will begin at 9:20 a.m. daily. The afternoon sessions will begin at 1:35 p.m. today and 1:25 p.m. Sunday (429-0777).

Reformation Lutheran Church, 580 E. St. Louis Ave., will host a community forum at 11 a.m. Sunday. The forum on "Environmental Concerns in Nevada" will feature Scott Rutledge, director of Nevada Conservation Link. On July 15, the community forum "A Heart Healthy Lifestyle" will feature Tina Revane, a volunteer with the American Heart Association (732-2052).

Northpointe Community Church's J.O.Y. Ministry will have its summer ladies prayer breakfast from 10 a.m. to noon July 14 at Sun City Aliante Community Center, 7394 Aliante Parkway, North Las Vegas. The entrance fee is $5 per person, and includes a continental breakfast, music by the Castillo Family, devotional Bible study with packets, gift tokens, drawings and games. Greater Evergreen Missionary Baptist Church, 1915 Lexington St., will have the Ushers, Nurses and Greeters Annual Day at 3 p.m. July 15. Guest speaker will be the Rev. D.E. Chaney, pastor of the Second Baptist Church Las Vegas (647-3071).

The Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Court St. Elizabeth Ann Seton No. 2131, will have a luncheon and bunco event at noon July 28 in Lavoy Hall at St. Francis De Sales Catholic Church, 1111 Michael Way. Community Lutheran Church, 3720 E. Tropicana Ave., will offer four Upward Sports indoor sports/cheer/enrichment summer camps. Soccer camps will be held July 23-27 with Cheer camps offered Monday through Friday and July 16-20. Enrichment camps will be offered on the same days as the sports camps. MEETINGS

Hindu Temple & Jain Center of Las Vegas, 1701 Sageberry Drive, offers Balaji Abhishekam services at 10:45 a.m. the first Saturday of the month in the temple, and Aarti Pooja services at noon Sundays (304-9207).

CLASSES

The Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Las Vegas, 3616 E. Lake Mead Blvd., will offer a free class on the principles and history of its liberal religious tradition at noon July 15 (878-0443).

Good Samaritan Lutheran Church, 8425 W. Windmill Lane, will offer three weeks of day camp from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 23 through Aug. 10. SINGLES GROUPS

New Life Christian Center has a singles meeting at 7 p.m. the second Friday of the month at 1229 E. Carson Ave. (387-5433).

Single Adults Learning Together, or SALT Ministries of CornerStone Christian Fellowship, meets at 6 p.m. Saturdays at 5825 W. Eldora Ave. (871-5050).
