SENIOR ACTIVITIES
BOULDER CITY SENIOR CENTER
The Boulder City Senior Center, 1001 Arizona St., is open 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Mondays through Fridays (293-3320).
The center offers continental breakfast and a weekday buffet-style lunch with a full salad bar for $2.50 as well as Meals on Wheels; transportation (7:30 a.m.-3 p.m. daily); information on Social Security, Medicare and senior law issues; live entertainment; exercise classes; yoga; and bingo and cards. It also has a Wednesday morning health fair.
CAMBEIRO SENIOR CENTER
The Arturo Cambeiro Senior Center, 330 N. 13th St., is open 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Mondays through Fridays. Spanish and English are spoken (382-6252, Ext. 135).
Meals are served to people ages 60 and older at 11:30 a.m. daily for a donation of $1.50.
The center also offers classes in citizenship and conversational English, arts and crafts, exercise programs and table games.
CAMBRIDGE CENTER
Cambridge Center, 3930 Cambridge St., is open 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays (455-7169).
A meal program is offered on Fridays for $1.75. Preregistration is recommended.
Activities at the center include bingo, field trips and guest speakers.
The Clark County Health District conducts blood-pressure checkups 9:30-11:30 a.m. on the second Friday of each month.
COLEMAN SENIOR CENTER
The Cora Coleman Senior Center, 2100 Bonnie Lane, is open 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays (455-7617).
Classes offered include arts and crafts, computers, defensive driving, exercise and dance, and special-interest courses. Other activities include pinochle, euchre, health screenings, guest speakers and holiday celebrations.
Field trips to various areas of interest and attractions in Southern Nevada are scheduled throughout the year.
DERFELT SENIOR CENTER
The Derfelt Senior Center, 3343 W. Washington Ave. in Lorenzi Park, is open 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Mondays through Fridays (229-6601).
Activities include arts and crafts, exercise and dance classes and day trips.
An interior design workshop will be offered at 11 a.m. Monday. The fee is $3.
Wild West Movie Night will be offered at 6 p.m. Wednesday. The fee is $5. Advance purchase is required.
Free ultrasound health screenings will be offered at 10 a.m. April 23. Appointments are required.
DOOLITTLE SENIOR CENTER
Doolittle Senior Center, 1950 N. J St., is open 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays. The senior center is closed for renovations. Senior activities will be based out of the Doolittle Community Center (229-6125).
Activities include bowling, computer classes, dominoes, water fitness, golf, hikes, pinochle, sewing and a community garden. There also are health screenings, trips and special events.
DULA GYMNASIUM
Dula Gymnasium, 441 E. Bonanza Road, adjacent to the Las Vegas Senior Citizens Center, is open 7 a.m.-10 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, and 8 a.m.-10 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays (229-6307).
A variety of classes and activities are offered, such as basketball, a walking group, weight-loss classes, table and paddle tennis, Japanese dance, and cribbage. The center also has a bocce league all year, as well as round-table discussion groups.
EAST LAS VEGAS COMMUNITY AND SENIOR CENTER
East Las Vegas Community/Senior Center, 250 N. Eastern Ave., is open 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays (229-1515).
The center offers a variety of dance, art, music and fitness classes, a computer lab, a pottery studio, and weaving looms and lessons.
A free beginners' bicycle clinic will be offered at 1 p.m. Tuesday.
Free Medicare health insurance counseling will be offered 10 a.m.-noon Tuesday. Call the center to make an appointment.
The AARP Safe Driving Program will be offered 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday. Preregistration is required by calling 257-9555. The fee is $10.
The East Las Vegas and Las Vegas senior centers will have their annual rag ball game at 10 a.m. Wednesday. Food will be served after the game for $2.
FRIENDSHIP CIRCLE
Friendship Circle, 830 E. Lake Mead Parkway, Henderson, is operated by The Salvation Army. Hours are 7 a.m.-5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays (565-8836).
Services include the Star Program for physically and mentally disabled adults, meals, nursing, and mental and physical exercise. Low-income assistance and Medicaid are available.
GOLDBERG SENIOR CENTER
The Alice and Harry L. Goldberg Senior Center, 2309 Renaissance Drive, Suite B, is open 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Friday (933-1191).
The center offers social service assistance through Las Vegas Senior Lifeline, a program of the Jewish Federation of Las Vegas. Assistance also is available in transportation, nutrition, homemaking, medical care and home improvements.
The center has nondenominational services for people age 60 and older.
HENDERSON SENIOR CENTER
Henderson Senior Center, 27 E. Texas Ave., is open 8 a.m.-9 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays, 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Fridays, 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturdays and 10 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Sundays (267-4150).
Lunch is served 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Mondays through Fridays for a suggested donation of $1.50 for 60 years or older, and $3 for all others. Meals also are delivered (565-4626). Breakfast is offered 9-11 a.m. Saturdays, and lunch is served at noon Sunday for a suggested donation of $1.50 for each.
Classes and activities offered include arts and crafts, billiards, bingo, knitting and crocheting, exercise classes, computer classes, writing workshops, bus trips, line dancing and card games.
Services include health screenings, and assistance with medical forms, housing, transportation, utilities, Social Security and legal issues.
Several groups meet at the center each month, including the DAV, Vision Support Group, Military Order of the Purple Heart chapter 730 and the Social Seniors Club.

KING SENIOR CENTER
The Martin Luther King Senior Center, 2420 N. Martin Luther King Blvd., Building B, North Las Vegas, offers hot lunches served daily for a suggested donation of $1.50, health services, commodities, computer classes, a fitness program, senior home repair program, bingo and other social activities (647-2536).
LAS VEGAS SENIOR CITIZENS CENTER
Las Vegas Senior Citizens Center, 451 E. Bonanza Road, is open 8 a.m.-10 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, and 8:30 a.m.-10 p.m. Saturdays (229-6454).
Classes and activities include beading and knitting, painting, pinochle, exercise classes, blood-pressure checks, monthly birthday parties and living will workshops. Low-impact aerobics classes are at 9 a.m. Mondays and Fridays; the fee is $2.
Several groups meet at the center each month, including Cactus, Water & Energy Conservation Society; Senior Tripsters; Southern Nevada Gem & Mineral Society; and the Porcelain Art Guild.
The Nevada Humanities Committee and Discussion Group meets 10-11:30 a.m. Thursdays.
The center also offers several dance classes. The cost is $5 for the ballroom and swing dance classes, all other classes are $3.
Teabag folding workshops will be offered at 10 a.m. Monday through May 7. The fee is $3 per class.
A pancake breakfast will be offered 8:30-10 a.m. Wednesday. The fee is $3.
The senior health expo with free screenings, advice and information will be offered 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Friday.

The center offers aerobics, games, computer classes, yoga, guitar lessons and exercise classes, among other activities and services.
Master gardener Pat Westlund will present a program about spring planting and gardening at 1 p.m. Monday.

LIED SENIOR CARE CENTER
Lied Senior Care Center, 901 N. Jones Blvd., provides assistance and supervision to impaired adults, 6:30 a.m.-6:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays. The center is operated by Beth Am and offers socialization, therapeutic activities, nursing services, meals and snacks, as well as recreation (648-3425).
MESQUITE SENIOR AND COMMUNITY CENTER
Mesquite Senior and Community Center, 102 W. Old Mill Road, Mesquite, is open 8 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays (346-5290).
Lunch is served 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. weekdays for a suggested donation of $2.50 for people 60 and older and $4 for others. Meals also are available for homebound seniors who qualify, and the suggested donation is $2.50.
Classes and activities include recreational trips, concerts, tile and card games, computer classes, craft classes and monthly birthday celebrations.
Health and wellness programs also are available.
NORTH LAS VEGAS RECREATION CENTER
North Las Vegas Recreation Center, 1638 Bruce St., offers activities for senior citizens 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Mondays through Fridays (633-1492 or 633-1600).
Classes and activities include gym walking, tai chi, sittercize, beginning computer sessions, ceramics, arts and crafts, bridge, dances, seminars and meal service. Monthly trips also are organized.
NORTHWEST SENIOR CENTER
Northwest Senior Center, 6841 W. Lone Mountain Road, is open 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays, and 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Fridays (229-4794).
Activities range from tighten, stretch and tone classes to writing for pleasure.
A Red Hat Society chapter meets the third Monday of the month; reservations are recommended.
Ballroom dance classes are offered at noon Tuesdays. The fee is $5.
Soup luncheons are offered at 12:30 p.m. Fridays. The fee is $2.
The free workshop "How to Travel Cheap" will be offered at 2 p.m. Tuesday. Reservations are required.

Meals are served five days a week for a donation of $2.50. The Meals on Wheels program is available for the homebound for a donation of $2.50.
Classes and activities include cards, billiards, ceramics, line dancing, hearing aid services, blood-pressure checks and medical equipment loans.
PARADISE COMMUNITY CENTER
Paradise Community Center, 4775 McLeod Drive, offers senior activities, including movie days, bingo and field trips, 7:30 a.m.-7 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturdays (455-7513).
PARKDALE COMMUNITY CENTER
Parkdale Community Center, 3200 Ferndale St., offers activities for senior citizens 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays (455-8502).
The center houses a computer lab, arts and crafts area, and multipurpose room.
Classes include dance, language, arts and crafts, exercise, computers, finance, and health and nutrition. There also are game days, and field trips are planned each month.
SILVER MESA RECREATION CENTER
Silver Mesa Recreation Center, 4025 Allen Lane, North Las Vegas, offers activities for senior citizens 9-11:30 a.m. Mondays through Fridays (633-2550).
Classes and activities include tai chi, yoga, gym walking, chess, checkers, basketball, volleyball, billiards, table tennis, cribbage and others. There also is a fitness room.
Monthly senior trips are arranged through the neighborhood recreation center (633-1600).
VETERANS MEMORIAL LEISURE SERVICES CENTER
Veterans Memorial Leisure Services Center, 101 S. Pavilion Center Drive, is open 6 a.m.-9 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, 7 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturdays and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sundays (229-1100).
It is a full-service center offering paddle tennis, the Cards and Conservation Club, a walking club, aerobics and fitness classes, and basketball for seniors.
WALNUT RECREATION CENTER
Walnut Recreation Center, 3075 N. Walnut Road, is open 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Mondays through Fridays (455-8402). The center is open to those 50 and older.
Activities include community excursions, guest speakers, cards and games, arts and crafts projects and classes, holiday parties, wellness checks and other activities. A low-impact exercise class is offered at no charge.
WEST FLAMINGO SENIOR CENTER
West Flamingo Active Adult Center, 6255 W. Flamingo Road, is open 8 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Mondays through Wednesdays and Fridays; 8 a.m.-8 p.m. Thursdays (455-7742). The center is open to those 50 and older.
Activities include acting classes, computer classes, knitting and crocheting, exercise classes, tai chi, yoga, watercolor, dance classes, pingpong, card games, field trips and monthly special events.
WHITNEY COMMUNITY AND SENIOR CENTER
Whitney Community and Senior Center, 5712 E. Missouri Ave., is open 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays (455-7576).
Classes and activities include computer, seniorcize, defensive driving, Spanish, bingo, cards, bunco, mah-jongg, Scrabble, line dancing, piano, guest speakers, holiday celebrations, potlucks and field trips, among others.
WINCHESTER CULTURAL CENTER
Winchester Cultural Center, 3130 S. McLeod Drive, offers social activities including card games, lectures, entertainers, movies, field trips, tai chi and yoga.
A book club meets at 1 p.m. the first Wednesday of each month.
An art gallery and a walking path also are at the center (455-7340).
SENIOR PROGRAMS
Clark County's Senior Advocate Program, based at Cambridge Community Center, 3900 Cambridge St., Suite 105, offers community events, referrals and assistance with legal documents, prescription drug programs, senior housing, safety awareness, transportation issues and other needs. Seniors also can participate in the Senior Advisory Council, Leadership Institute and fairs throughout the community (455-7051).
The AARP Safe Driving Program, a program that teaches new safe driving techniques for seniors affected by changes in their vision, hearing and reaction time as a result of aging, is offered at various locations in Las Vegas and Henderson. For more information on class locations and to preregister for a class call 257-9555. The fee is $10.
The Henderson Allied Community Advocates group serves people age 55 and older who need assistance with transportation, Meals on Wheels, respite care and senior companionship (486-6770, Ext. 243).
The Gay and Lesbian Senior Social Connection meets at 2 p.m. the second Sunday of the month at 953 E. Sahara Ave., Suite B-31 (436-2439).
The Southern Nevada chapter of the Alzheimer's Association offers information about the disease, along with support and other services. Support groups meet at various locations (248-2770).
Nathan Adelson Hospice, 3131 S. Swenson St., offers a bereavement support group at 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. the first and third Thursdays of the month (733-0320).
The Henderson Chapter of Retired Public Employees of Nevada meets at 2:15 p.m. the second Monday of each month at Henderson Senior Center, 27 E. Texas St.
The Las Vegas Chapter of Retired Public Employees of Nevada meets at 2 p.m. the second Tuesday of each month at the American Legion Hall, 733 Veterans Memorial Drive.
The Happy Hoofers, a senior tap group, is available for performances at all types of functions including those at retirement and nursing homes, and veterans' gatherings. There is no charge. Classes are at 11 a.m. Mondays and Fridays at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1753, 705 Las Vegas Blvd. North (737-6664).
The Las Vegas Tappers group is looking for men and women to exercise and tap (361-8593).
The Silver Belles Tap Dance Company is available for community events, retirement centers, nursing homes and schools. Donations are accepted and given to various Las Vegas charities. The group also offers a two-hour dance class for $3 (614-8871).
The Bomb Shells are recruiting beginners and experienced dancers to perform at functions including those at retirement and nursing homes. Dance classes meet from 10 a.m.-noon Mondays and Wednesdays at Riviera Vegas Mobile Home Park, 2038 Palm St. The classes are $4 (871-2225).
