SHARE SECRETS OF TASTY CHILI

There's not much that hits the spot on a chilly winter day quite like a bowl of chili, and we know many Review-Journal readers love to prepare their chili creations for family and friends.

If you're part of that group, here's a chance for you to become locally famous -- and earn $100 as well. We're looking for amateur chili cooks to enter the R-J Chili Cookoff. To enter, send a copy of your recipe -- you must be willing to allow it to be published in the paper and online -- along with your name and a daytime telephone number to Chili Cookoff, c/o Heidi Knapp Rinella, Las Vegas Review-Journal, P.O. Box 70, Las Vegas, NV 89125-0070, or fax it to her at 383-4676, or e-mail it to hrinella@ reviewjournal.com, with "Chili Cookoff" in the subject line.

Entries must be received by 5 p.m. Jan. 14. Finalists will be notified and asked to bring a pot of their chili to the R-J office on Jan. 19, for evaluation by a panel of independent judges. Entries will be judged on flavor, texture, creativity, heat factor and appearance.
