THE LIST

DVDS

"Aqua Teen Hunger Force Colon Movie Film for Theaters" (R): A pack of french fries, a wad of ground beef and a milkshake save the world. Seriously. Well, not seriously, more like hilariously. Find a fan of the Cartoon Network show that spawned this movie and get him to explain.

Also out today: "Inland Empire" (R); "God Grew Tired of Us" (PG); "The Shakespeare Collection" (Unrated); "Taxi Driver Limited Collector's Edition" (R); "Vacancy" (R); "The Lookout" (R); "Wild Hogs" (PG-13); "Fracture" (R); "The Method" (Unrated); "The Dark Crystal 25th Anniversary Edition" (PG); "The Charlie Chan Collection -- Volume Three" (Unrated); and "The Amazing Johnathan: Wrong on Every Level" (Unrated).

CDS

Turbonegro, "Retox" (Cooking Vinyl): They're the greatest rock band that too much of America has never heard of: Norway's Turbonegro is equally funny and fierce, lampooning macho rock dude stereotypes while blasting out the jams with chest hair thicker than a buffalo pelt.

The band's latest disc, "Retox" is a suitably tongue-in-cheek onslaught of fist-in-the-air rockers about chubby guys and male pattern baldness.

Check this one out, or, in the band's words, you will have "Hell Toupée."

Also in stores: Blaqk Audio, "Cexcells"; Luke Bryan, "I'll Stay Me"; Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds, "Live at Radio City"; Lori McKenna, "Unglamorous"; Nikki McKibbin, "Unleashed"; Linda Thompson, "Versatile Heart"; and Various, "High School Musical 2."

BOOKS

"Play Dirty" (Simon & Schuster): In the new thriller by Sandra Brown, disgraced Cowboys quarterback Griff Burkett is a free man after five long years in federal prison for cheating. But the only job he can get is working on a secret job for Foster Speakman, chief executive officer of SunSouth Airlines and his wife, Laura. At the same time, he must protect the Speakmans from a man who wants to see Burkett's life destroyed.

Also out today: "Force of Nature" (Ballantine Books) by Suzanne Brockmann; "The Rake" (HarperCollins) by William F. Buckley; "On the Road: 50th Anniversary Edition" (Viking) by Jack Kerouac; "Hard Call: Great Decisions and the Extraordinary People Who Made Them" (Twelve) by John McCain with Mark Salter; "End Games" (Pantheon) by Michael Dibdin; and "What You Call Winter: Stories" (Knopf) by Nalini Jones.
