These are the best neighborhoods in Las Vegas for trick-or-treating

Go west, young trick-or-treaters.

That's the advice of the online real estate database Zillow, which announced five Las Vegas neighborhoods — all in the western or northwestern 'burbs — as the top places to scare up the most Halloween treats.

Topping Zillow's Las Vegas neighborhood list: Sheep Mountain, north of the 215 Beltway between Decatur Boulevard and Durango Drive.

Rounding out the town's top five trick-or-treat zones:

• The Lakes

• Desert Shores

• Summerlin North

• Buffalo (bounded by Charleston Boulevard and Sahara Avenue, Decatur and Durango)

Zillow rated the Vegas 'hoods because, earlier in the week, Neon Nirvana came in 12th on its seventh annual Trick-or-Treat Index, which lists the cities where kids can get the most candy the fastest, in the safest neighborhoods. (Zillow judged median home value, housing density, crime rates and population age to arrive at the rankings.)

For the fifth straight year, San Francisco topped the chart. Two other California cities, San Jose and Los Angeles, rounded out the top three, followed by Milwaukee, Phoenix, Chicago, Boston, San Diego, Denver and the Golden State's capital, Sacramento.
