Water Cooler: Solo dissing, Coach Favre, ‘Scrub’-bing for votes

Here are a few things in news, sports, entertainment and pop culture that caught our eye last week.

■ U.S. women's soccer goalie Hope Solo disses soccer legend Brandi Chastain for her commentary about the team. The yin and yang of every Olympics: For every cool Missy Franklin or Dana Vollmer, you have to endure an annoying Hope Solo.

■ Former NFL quarterback Brett Favre joins the coaching staff of a Mississippi high school football team. Guard your playbook, guys, because he'll just retire at the end of the season and join your rival next year.

■ Donald Faison and Zach Braff of the sitcom "Scrubs" visit Las Vegas to register voters on behalf of the Obama campaign. Next week, the Teletubbies arrive on behalf of the Romney campaign.
