Lockdown lifted at Wynn, Roundy elementary schools after police search

Two central valley elementary schools were locked down briefly Thursday morning while Las Vegas police searched for someone they only described as a “suspect.”

Wynn and Roundy elementary schools, near West Sahara Avenue and Decatur Boulevard, both were locked after school police called Metro to say they may have spotted a “suspect from a prior event,” police said. Metro would not specify who they were looking for or what that person may have done.

Officers were called about 9 a.m. and the lockdown was lifted by 10 a.m., about a half hour after it was put in place, Clark County School District spokeswoman Melinda Malone said.

It is not rare for schools to be locked down when there is police activity in the area, Malone said.

It was not immediately clear if police found who they were looking for.
