1 dead, 1 injured in Saturday accident at Lake Mead

A woman died and a man was injured in a single-vehicle rollover crash late Saturday night at Lake Mead National Recreation Area, according to park officials.

Little information has been released, but Lake Mead spokeswoman Christie Vanover said a 28-year-old Las Vegas woman was flown to an area hospital, where she later died. The man was taken to a hospital by a community ambulance.

The Clark County coroner’s office will release the woman’s identity and the cause of death once next of kin is notified.

An emergency call about the crash came in at 10:44 p.m. It happened on Lakeshore Road near mile marker 9.

The road was closed in both directions for about five hours.

The National Park Service, Bureau of Land Management, Henderson Police Department, Henderson Fire Department and Nevada Highway Patrol all responded to the scene.

The wreck is still under investigation.
