1 person hurt in fight after Mayweather bout

A small fight erupted outside the MGM Grand Garden Arena late Saturday night, causing confusion as the audience was leaving the boxing match between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Marcos Maidana.

The altercation occurred near a Blizz Frozen Yogurt shop, according to an MGM spokesman.

The incident brought confusion, leading some departing fans to head back toward the arena, where they met others who were leaving the event that Mayweather won, the spokesman said. At least one person suffered unspecified injuries.

Initial reports of shots fired were not correct, Metro Watch Commander Lt. Ken Romaine said about 10:30 p.m.

The incident paled in comparison with the last time panicked crowds left a boxing match at the MGM. On May 3, about 60 people were treated for injuries at the resort and another 24 hospitalized after a stampede after a fight between Mayweather and Maidana.
