2 arrested in connection with illegal brothels

Two people were arrested Wednesday in connection with two brothels police said were operating in central Las Vegas.

Javier Garcia-Rodelas, 42, faces five counts of pandering adults for prostitution and five counts of receiving earnings from prostitution. Edelmira Beltran-Blanco, 41, faces a sex trafficking charge, four counts of pandering adults for prostitution and three counts of receiving earnings from prostitution. Garcia-Rodela is being held at the Clark County Detention Center with bail set at $30,000. Beltran is also being held at the detention center with bail set at $31,000.

The Clark County district attorney’s office is expected to file official charges against them Monday morning, according to detention center records.

Las Vegas police said its Vice and Sex Trafficking Investigations Section received tips in February that the brothels were operating out of homes in the 1800 and 2300 blocks of Walnut Avenue, near Bonanza Road and Eastern Avenue. Those tips led to search warrants and arrests Wednesday.

The FBI and Homeland Security investigators joined Metro as part of the Southern Nevada Human Trafficking Task Force, police said.
