2 teens in critical condition after early morning crash

Two teens suffered substantial injuries after the truck they were in traveled off the roadway, up an embankment and onto railroad tracks Sunday morning, police say.

A 15-year-old girl and Robert Serdynski, 18, were riding in a 2012 Ford F-150 pickup, driven by Alexander Ortiz, 19, when the crash happened around 4:22 a.m., a release from Metro said.

The Ford pickup veered 109 feet off of Robindale Road, near Lindell Road, into a gravel area before coming to a stop.

A 2003 Mitsubish Eclipse, operated by Moises Hernandez, 19, was following the truck and also left the roadway, the release said. It tipped over and came to rest on its roof.

Ortiz suffered minor injuries, and his passengers were taken to University Medical Center's trauma unit in critical condition. Hernandez's injuries were minor.

Both drivers involved were suspected of impairment and taken to Clark County Detention Center for further testing, the release said.
