February 25, 2016 - 9:55 pm
Ten hours after Metro police began negotiating with a man they said was suicidal and threatening to jump off the parking garage of the D Las Vegas, the man was in custody.
Police were originally called to the hotel-casino's garage at 10:18 a.m., spokeswoman Laura Meltzer said. The man was sitting on a ledge about five or six floors up, visible from the Fremont Street Experience.
While he was threatening to jump, police had shut down Carson Avenue between Third and Fourth streets throughout the day. The man came down willingly about 7:45 p.m.
