Barricade situation near Cimarron Road resolved

A Las Vegas police and SWAT team response to a domestic dispute call at a house near Cimarron Road and Laredo Avenue ended without incident at 2:45 p.m. Sunday, six hours after a woman fled the house unharmed, a police sergeant said.

Sgt. Jeff Clark said the response at 8:20 a.m. focused on a man inside the residence in the 8200 block of Sierra Cascade Court.

“All indicators were we had a male subject barricaded inside the residence. We attempted to establish communication over a long period of time,” Clark said. “At the end of this, he wasn’t there so as of now, the message I have is no one else is in danger. The community is safe.”

About 11 a.m., a resident near the neighborhood reported hearing loud blasts coming from the cordoned-off area.

“It sounded like a dump truck going into a wall,” said Eric Rosenberger, 41.

Clark couldn’t say what the blasts were “because that was whatever SWAT was doing.” He didn’t say whether the man, in his 30s, was armed.

“We know who he is. We’d just like to talk to him. But as of now his identity is ... an ongoing investigation,” Clark said.

He said the woman who fled is “safe and uninjured.” Police had closed access to the neighborhood at Cimarron Road and West Sahara Avenue, and advised residents in the vicinity to shelter in place.

Police returned to the scene about 7:30 p.m. after neighbors called to report the man’s return. A perimeter was set up in the area while police conducted a search, but they discovered the man had packed things into his vehicle and fled again, according to Lt. Craig Klatt.
