Bicyclist in critical condition after hit-and-run crash

A bicyclist was hospitalized in critical condition after a hit-and-run crash late Friday night in the northeast valley, Las Vegas police said Saturday morning.

Officers were called about 11:30 p.m. Friday to Las Vegas Boulevard North and Cheyenne Avenue where a 52-year-old woman was crossing Las Vegas Boulevard and was struck by a vehicle.

Witness statements and evidence at the scene indicated Theresa Melissa Norfolk, of Las Vegas, was crossing in a crosswalk when she was hit and thrown onto the concrete median. The unidentified vehicle fled the scene with Norfolk’s black mountain bike lodged underneath its front end.

Norfolk was taken to University Medical Center with critical injuries.

The vehicle fled north on Las Vegas Boulevard before turning left into a desert lot on the north side of Las Vegas Boulevard. The bicycle was left in the desert and the driver fled in the car.
