Coroner can’t determine cause of death for human remains found in December
The Clark County coroner declared the cause and manner of death as "undetermined" nearly a month after human remains were found by a hiker near Mountain Springs.
The remains of Thomas Collins, 60, found Dec. 30 were in an unincorporated area south of the Spring Mountains between Las Vegas and Pahrump.
Metro received a call regarding Collins' remains about 4 p.m., but his body wasn't located by officials until later that night since the area is so rural, police said.
The coroner was unable to determine Collins' manner of death, but Metro was not investigating it as a homicide, Officer Jesse Roybal said.
