The Clark County coroner’s office on Sunday identified the 23-year-old man who died Saturday morning in a crash in the southwest valley.
Josip Astalos, 23, was driving a pickup truck just after 3 a.m., when he crashed on South Jones Boulevard, south of Transverse Drive, police said.
Police said Astalos failed to follow a curve and ran off the roadway’s left side, over a curb and through a crushed-rock landscape at 1301 S. Jones Blvd. The truck struck several boulders and trees before rolling over.
Astalos, who wasn’t wearing a seat belt, was ejected from the truck.
The truck slid north on its roof across Transverse Drive and hit the southwest corner of a building at 6150 Transverse Drive. The responding coroner’s investigator pronounced Astalos dead.
Preliminary reports show alcohol may have factored into the crash.
Metro’s accident investigation section is investigating the crash.
