Coroner IDs Las Vegas motorcyclist killed in Route 160 crash

A motorcyclist killed in a crash Monday evening on state Route 160 west of state Route 159 has been identified by the Clark County coroner's office.

Las Vegas resident Heath Vanstone, 46, died in the crash involving three motorcycles and two other vehicles about three miles east of Mountain Springs, near mile marker 18, around 5:50 p.m., Nevada Highway Patrol trooper Chelsea Stuenkel said.

Stuenkel said the motorcyclists were headed west toward Pahrump when Vanstone attempted to pass a Honda CR-V but collided head-on with a Ford Edge in the oncoming traffic lane.

The Ford rolled over after the collision and crashed into the Honda, and the two motorcycles then hit the Honda, Stuenkel said.

Vanstone died on scene. One of the other motorcyclists and the three occupants of the Ford were transported to University Medical Center, Stuenkel said. The other motorcyclist and the occupants of the Honda were not injured, she said.
