Crash on US 95 north of Las Vegas leaves 1 dead, 3 injured

A crash on U.S. 95 near Kyle Canyon Road, left one dead and three injured early Saturday morning, Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper Jason Buratczuk said.

The highway patrol got a call at about 2 a.m. that a yellow Nissan had rear-ended a Ford Fusion, causing both vehicles to leave the roadway.

The Ford overturned in the nearby desert area while the Nissan hit multiple trees, Buratczuk said.

The male driver of the Ford had to be removed from his vehicle, most likely because of his seatbelt, Buratczuk said, and he was taken to University Medical Center in critical condition.

The driver was flown by helicopter to UMC where he was later pronounced dead, said Buratczuk. There was an adult female sitting in the passenger seat of the Nissan and a 12-year-old female in the back seat, none of whom, including the driver, were wearing seatbelts.

The two passengers were taken to UMC with non-life-threatening injuries.

The highway patrol said the driver of the Nissan was at fault, and that drugs and alcohol were factors, according to the highway patrol.

The Clark County coroner’s office will release the name of the Nissan driver once his family has been notified.
