April 23, 2012 - 11:17 pm
PICK OF THE WEEK:
SUNSET PIZZERIA
9730 W. Tropicana Ave., 778-4444
Pizza is taken seriously here as fresh dough is made daily with the finest flour and olive oil, while the homemade sauce has a tasty blend of Italian herbs and spices. All pizzas can be ordered as New York-style or extra-thick square Sicilian. The Sunset is made with pepperoni, Italian sausage, mushroom, onion and bell peppers. Other specials are veggie, The Greek, Hawaiian and pesto (no sauce). The feta white is feta cheese, spinach, mozzarella, garlic and tomatoes; the four cheese is mozzarella, romano, provolone and ricotta. But Sunset is more than pizza. The menu also features oven-baked Italian grinders, strombolis, half-pound hamburgers, subs and some great Philly steaks, including the veggie and New York Classic (bell pepper, egg, cheese). Featured pasta entrees come with salad and Italian bread and include spaghetti with marinara or meat sauce, chicken parmigiana with ziti, cheese ravioli, tortellini in white or pink sauce and linguini with red or white clam sauce. Among the large salads are chef, tuna, Greek, grilled chicken Caesar and antipasto platter with romaine, tomatoes, cucumbers, onions, olives, provolone, pepperoncini, salami and hard-boiled egg. Pizza starts at $10.99 and sandwiches at $6.99. Sunset Pizzeria is open daily from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. - Jack Bulavsky
