CHOCOLATE & SPICE BAKERY TO HOST MOTHER’S DAY-THEMED COOKING CLASS

Chef Megan Romano plans to host a Mother’s Day brunch cooking class from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Chocolate & Spice Bakery, 7293 W. Sahara Ave., Suite 8.

Romano will break down some of her favorite recipes, providing personal tips and tricks to making a meal fit. Fresh brunch selections are set to include a wild mushroom and Gruyere egg white frittata and spring salad of arugula, goat cheese and caramelized hazelnuts, topped with citrus vinaigrette. Blueberry scones will round out the meal.

SILVERTON TO HOST FOODIE FEST
FRIDAY THROUGH SUNDAY

The Silverton, 3333 Blue Diamond Road, plans to host the third annual Las Vegas Foodie Fest in its parking lot from 4 p.m. to midnight Friday, noon to midnight Saturday and noon to 10 p.m. Sunday.

Food trucks, food vendor booths, eating contests, a beer garden, carnival rides and games are planned. A VIP section will feature live entertainment. White Castle is scheduled to bring specialty grills and fresh ingredients for a first-time special appearance at the festival.

A portion of the proceeds will benefit Three Square food bank. Admission is $10, which grants access for all three days.

FOGO DE CHÃO PLANS JUNIOR ACHIEVEMENT FUNDRAISER THURSDAY

Fogo de Chão, 360 E. Flamingo Road, plans to host a fundraiser for Junior Achievement of Southern Nevada from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday.

The Junior Achievement Dinner Package will feature unlimited servings of 17 cuts of fire-roasted meats carved tableside, a gourmet salad bar with more than 30 items, one glass of wine or one cocktail, unlimited nonalcoholic beverages and dessert.

Last year’s inaugural effort raised nearly $6,000. All proceeds will benefit the organization in honor of Financial Literacy Month.

EVENING OF HOPE EPICUREAN EXPERIENCE TO BENEFIT CANDLELIGHTERS

MOTLEY BREWS TO PRESENT
FESTIVAL OF BEER AT SUNSET PARK

Motley Brews plans to present the Third Annual Great Vegas Festival of Beer from 3 to 7 p.m. Saturday at Sunset Park, 2601 E. Sunset Road. The event is set to feature live music, 200 craft brews and more than 50 breweries.

Motley Brews is partnering with the Nevada Craft Brewers Association to create its first collaboration beer, Pyrite Pale Ale, which will be the official brew of the festival.

Early entry will be available at 2 p.m. for VIP ticket holders.

A portion of ticket sales will benefit the Nevada Craft Brewers Association and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Las Vegas.

Guests must be 21 or older. Advance general admission tickets are $30 online, and VIP tickets are $55. Early-entry tickets are $40 in advance. Day-of-event tickets are $40 at the door for general admission, $50 for early entry and $65 for VIP.

POSHBURGER BISTRO OPENS IN SUMMERLIN

Michelin Star chef Conrad Gallagher and his wife, Candice, recently opened PoshBurger Bistro at 9921 W. Charleston Blvd., at the corner of Hualapai Way.

The eatery combines classic burgers with upscale cuisine made with grass-fed, antibiotic-free meats and organic fruits and vegetables.

Selections include the $29 Kobe Burger, topped with truffle aioli and seared foie gras, and the $19 Black Angus Burger, topped with confit tomato, arugula, hummus, Raclette cheese and red onion marmalade. Other burger selections are lamb ($17), wild boar ($18) and venison ($19), along with specialty burgers made from elk, ostrich, salmon, duck or oxtail.

The menu also features a variety of raw juice blends, craft beers, an extensive wine list, salads and appetizers such as spicy Buffalo wings, oysters on the half shell and duck liver parfait. Desserts include Granny Smith Apple Cobbler and Mango Upside Down Cheesecake.

The restaurant is 2,000 square feet and seats 97 inside and soon will seat 55 outside. Lunch and dinner are served daily from 11:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m., with hours subject to change. A weekend brunch and happy hour are planned in the coming months.

CINCO DE MAYO FIESTA SET FOR MAY 4 AND 5 AT CANTINA LAREDO

Cantina Laredo at Tivoli Village, 430 S. Rampart Blvd., Suite 110, is scheduled to host a Cinco de Mayo Fiesta May 4 and 5. Plans for the indoor-outdoor celebration include live entertainment, piñatas, raffles and food and drink specials.

The May 4 event is for adults and is scheduled from 6 p.m. to midnight. It is set to feature live bands from 6 to 9 p.m. and a live disc jockey and dance contests from 9 p.m. to midnight. Cigar rolling is also planned.

The May 5 event is for families and is schedule from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. It is set to feature music, pony rides, balloon artists and games.

NEVADA BLIND CHILDREN’S FOUNDATION ANNOUNCES CHEF LINEUP FOR BALL

The Nevada Blind Children’s Foundation has announced the celebrity chef lineup for its Ladybug Ball fundraiser, which is scheduled for 6 p.m. May 4 at Aria at CityCenter, 3730 Las Vegas Blvd. South.

Chefs scheduled to prepare and present a course during the gourmet meal are Bradley Ogden, Brian Massie, Angelo Sosa and Megan Romano. A cocktail reception, silent and live auctions and live entertainment are also planned. Proceeds will support the foundation’s educational programs and services.

Grammy Award-winning gospel music star Kirk Franklin is partnering with the House of Blues at Mandalay Bay, 3950 Las Vegas Blvd. South, for a new Gospel Brunch as part of the House of Blues Gospel Brunch’s yearlong 20th anniversary celebration.

Kirk Franklin’s Gospel Brunch will be unveiled on Mother’s Day, May 12. The all-you-can-eat brunch features a nondenominational, participative celebration of gospel music. The menu includes cornbread muffins and maple butter, Creole chicken, shrimp jambalaya, chicken and waffles, carving stations and create-your-own Bloody Mary and mimosa bars.
