Dining Pick of the Week: Cedars Restaurant

4440 S. Maryland Parkway
at East Harmon Avenue, 896-5000

A Mediterranean breakfast is a nice break from the more traditional breakfasts to which we have become accustomed. For instance, how about mana'ysh with cheese, bread baked with oregano oil and cheese. Or maybe foul medammas, fava beans with two scrambled eggs and pita bread. These dishes are not only tasty, they're also healthy. Popular salads are grilled chicken, Caesar (add chicken) and chef. Half or footlong sandwiches include tuna, roast beef, turkey, turkey and pastrami, ham and cheese, grilled cheese with tomato soup, hamburgers and hot dogs. Among the specialty sandwiches are vegetarian, falafel burger, gyro shawarma and garlic chicken. Large plates include hummus with chicken, baba ghanoush and grape leaves. Or build your own dish with a selection featuring meatballs, mashed potatoes, chicken fingers or nuggets, baked potato, french fries or potato salad. And you know dessert is going to be good with baklava, chocolate or vanilla pudding and cookies (Grandma, chocolate, mini). Half sandwiches start at $3.50 and plates at $5. Cedars is open from
10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
