Dining Pick of the Week: Grind Burger Bar & Lounge

360 E. Tropicana Ave. between Paradise Road and Koval Lane, 702-262-9181

There are many fancy hamburgers out there, but the best are usually made with ground chuck. Only fresh ground chuck is used at this build-your-own burger bar, along with hand-pressed turkey burgers, meatless burgers with Mediterranean spices and fresh chicken breast. The burgers are made to order with choice of freshly baked bun, cheeses (bleu, pepper jack, provolone, cheddar, Swiss), toppings (grilled asparagus, fried egg, sautéed spinach, Sicilian olive salad) and homemade specialty sauces, including roasted garlic mayonnaise, white balsamic vinaigrette, cayenne pepper ranch dressing and chipotle ketchup. There are build-your-own 12-inch pizzas with all the popular toppings and specialty pies such as Mexican, Vegetable and Bianca (olive oil, shaved garlic, Italian spices). Among the appetizers are Thai calamari in sweet and spicy dressing, edamame with coarse sea salt, onion strings, chicken wings and crispy mozzarella with salsa. Just want a salad? The Grind Chop Chop has fresh greens with marinated peppers, onions, mushrooms, avocado, grilled asparagus and tomatoes. Enjoy an old-fashioned, hand-scooped milkshake (vanilla, chocolate, strawberry) for dessert. Happy Hour is from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday. Hamburgers begin at $7.49. Grind is open daily from 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. — Jack Bulavsky
