David Karnafel, 15, has achieved Eagle status in the Boy Scouts of America.

A member of Troop 624, David helped organize 30 volunteers to paint 70 fire hydrants and curbs in a senior community in Summerlin for his Eagle project.

David, a student at Advanced Technologies Academy, is the son of Brad and Debbie Karnafel of Las Vegas.

Tranice Manning has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio.

A 2010 graduate of Desert Pines High School, Manning is the daughter of Michelle Manning of Las Vegas.

Steven Dorsey has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio.

Dorsey is the brother of Jackie Sierra of Las Vegas.

Andrew Balko, an Air National Guard airman, has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio.

Jamie Cheung of Las Vegas has been named to the honor roll at Oregon State University in Corvallis, Ore., for the fall 2012 term with a straight-A average.

Cheung is a senior studying apparel design.

Shaun Siao has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio.

A 2011 graduate of Las Vegas High School, Siao is the son of Sherly Arcemont and Salvador Siao, both of Las Vegas.

Brooklyn Di Raffaele, Shannon Sperry, Kate Threlfall and Calli Zitzer of Las Vegas have been named to the honor roll at Oregon State University in Corvallis, Ore., for the fall 2012 term. Di Raffaele is a sophomore studying English, Sperry is a sophomore studying pre-chemical engineering, Threlfall is a freshman studying biochemistry and biophysics, and Zitzer is a junior studying general science.

Steven-David Phelps has graduated from the U.S. Navy's Naval Nuclear Power Training Command in Goose Creek, S.C. He will next undergo additional instruction at a prototype training unit before serving as a surface warfare officer aboard a nuclear-powered surface ship or as an electronics technician aboard a nuclear-powered submarine. Phelps is the son of Teresa Scott of Las Vegas and Terrence Phelps of Murrieta, Calif.

William Tremblay has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio.

Tremblay is the son of William Tremblay of North Las Vegas and Donna Tremblay of Navarre, Fla.

Raul Rodriguez has returned to the U.S. after being deployed overseas at a forward operating base to serve in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. He is an airborne infantryman and squad automatic weapon gunner assigned to the 4th Airborne Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division, at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska. A 2010 graduate of Desert Pines High School, Rodriguez is the son of Manuela Rodriguez of Las Vegas.
