Eric Lujan has achieved Eagle Scout status in the Boy Scouts of America.
A member of Troop 849, he helped restore and repaint walkway fences at the Arroyo Grande Sports Complex in Henderson for his Eagle project.
He enjoys computer programming, ham radio and studying physics.
A student at Coronado High School, he is assistant editor of the school newspaper and is active in Varsity Quiz.
Lujan is the son of Patrick Lujan and Terri Lujan of Henderson.
Joshua Dycus, 17, a member of Oasis Chapter of the International Order of DeM olay and a past master councilor of Oasis Chapter, was awarded the Third Preceptor Medal during the 2012 Nevada DeMolay Conclave in Henderson.
DeMolay is a character-building and leadership organization for males 12 to 21.
A student at West Career and Technical Academy, Dycus is the son of Jeff Dycus of Las Vegas.
Richard Keirn, 13, a member of Oasis Chapter of the International Order of DeMolay, attended a Henderson City Council meeting Aug. 7 to present Cmdr. Art Cozad of the Military Order of the Purple Heart with a 2012 Nevada DeMolay conclave book and a Nevada DeMolay pin.
DeMolay is a character-building and leadership organization for males 12 to 21.
A student at Schofield Middle School, Richard is the son of Richard Keirn of Henderson.
Nina Kerr, 19, has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio.
Since basic training, Kerr has graduated from Survival Evasion Resistance and Escape training in Spokane, Wash., and from Water Survival School at Naval Air Station Pensacola in Pensacola, Fla.
She is currently attending Loadmaster School at Altus Air Force Base in Altus, Okla.
Kerr, a 2011 graduate of Spring Valley High School, is the daughter of Patricia Le Compte of Las Vegas.
The Sound of Liberty marching band, a performing group from Liberty High School in Henderson, won first place in the Class A division at the Henderson Bandfest on Oct. 6 at Coronado High School.
The band also won outstanding general effect, outstanding music and outstanding visual.
Three musicians from Liberty High School in Henderson are slated to perform in the 2012 Clark County School District Honor Orchestra in November.
Colette Stefaniak plays viola, Bryce Fanger plays violin and Kyle Dudder plays cello.
The students, all freshmen, were chosen to represent the school at auditions held Sept. 29.
James Korte has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio.
A 2009 graduate of Rancho High School, Korte is the son of Martha Korte of Las Vegas.
Dominic Guerra has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio.
A 2009 graduate of Liberty High School in Henderson, Guerra is the son of Edie and Orestes Guerra of Las Vegas.
Ryan Pierce has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson in Columbia, S.C.
A 2011 graduate of Northwest Career and Technical Academy, Pierce is the son of John and Tina Pierce of Las Vegas.
Nico Salgado has earned placement on the dean's list at Berklee College of Music in Boston for the spring 2012 semester.
