Nathaniel Towk, 18, has graduated from U.S. Army basic training at Fort Benning in Georgia. He plans to attend airborne school and ranger school. Towk is a 2011 graduate of Oasis Christian Academy, where he played basketball. Towk is the son of Mark and Pearl Towk of Las Vegas.

Jonathan Strate, 17, has achieved Eagle status in the Boy Scouts of America.

For his Eagle project, Strate organized the painting of the Living Grace Home, a residential facility serving unwed pregnant teens.

A student at Northwest Career and Technical Academy, he is a junior in the sports medicine program.

He enjoys basketball, weight training, coaching at the YMCA, camping and studying physical therapy.

Strate is the son of Roy and Christine Strate of Las Vegas.

Alexander Strate, 17, has achieved Eagle status in the Boy Scouts of America.

For his Eagle project, Strate collected school supplies, backpacks and treasure box items for an underprivileged elementary school.

A student at Northwest Career and Technical Academy, he is a junior in the media communications program.

He enjoys basketball, weight training, coaching at the YMCA, writing and backpacking.

Strate is the son of Roy and Christine Strate of Las Vegas.

Mathew Schuck III has achieved Eagle status in the Boy Scouts of America.

A member of Troop 669, Schuck helped build two recycling bins at Lake Mead National Recreation Area for his Eagle project.

Schuck is a student at Nevada State High School. He maintains a 3.99 grade-point average while attending the College of Southern Nevada, where he is pursuing a career in medicine.

He is a member of the National Society for High School Scholars, Varsity Quiz and the Science Bowl.

He has received the Great Lakes Scholar Award, American Legion Award, Presidential Volunteer Service Award three times, Young Authors Award, Cub Scout Arrow of Light Award and the Teacher's Choice Award in science and band.

In his free time, he enjoys photography, camping, archery, music and boating.

Schuck is the son of Michelle and Mathew Schuck of North Las Vegas.

Lew De Leon and Jon Monga were inducted into the Foothill High School Coaches Association Hall of Fame during a half time ceremony during a boys basketball game Feb. 6. A reception was held before the game.

De Leon is a member of the class of 2003. He was an All-American junior college tennis player who is now men's assistant coach at UNLV.

Monga, class of 2004, was an all-Western Athletic Conference defensive lineman who played in four bowl games at California State University, Fresno.

The American Legion Auxiliary Junior Unit 14 shipped toiletries and other items through the United Service Organizations Inc. to active military personnel through their "No Sweat" project.

The group included tags asking whether the service members would like letters written to them.

This is the third USO project the group has worked on. The group's motto is "Little Americans Making a Big Difference."

Group members are Maysea Kessler, Sage Nulty, Olivia Kessler, Candace Reardon and Courtney Reardon.
