First Friday listings for Dec. 4, 2015
December 2, 2015 - 1:42 pm
The First Friday arts festival is scheduled from 5 to 11 p.m. Dec. 4 at venues throughout the 18b Las Vegas Arts District in downtown Las Vegas, near the intersection of Charleston Boulevard and Main Street. The new nonprofit organizing the event is stepping back while it organizes and reevaluates what can be realistically achieved at the events. The result is a scaled-back festival with some food vendors and art booths, primarily in the parking lot east of Art Square, 1025 S. First St., with the main focus being the galleries in and around the district.
The location of Guerrilla Kages organized by Ruzo Logic is still up in the air, but Logic plans to have them up and working somewhere in the Arts District. The portable, standing painting surfaces have featured live painting by established artists and students on the closed-off streets near the corner of Charleston Boulevard and Art Way.
On-street and paid parking is available close to the event, but spaces fill up early. Visitors are cautioned to avoid parking in unauthorized parking areas, such as vacant lots, as they may be subject to towing.
Visit firstfridaylasvegas.com.
Preview Thursday is set from 6 to 9 p.m. Dec. 3 and offers a more low-key event before First Friday booths are set up. The preview presents an opportunity to see many of the galleries and shows before the crowds on Friday.
