Jan Jones was honored Dec. 9 by the Women's Chamber of Commerce of Nevada with a ceremony at Four Seasons Las Vegas.

Jones is senior vice president of communications and government relations for Caesars Entertainment.

Chandler Marrs, Ph.D., founder and CEO of Lucine Biotechnology Inc., received the ATHENA Young Professional Leadership Award.

Fred Schultz, founder and CEO of the Foundation for Positively Kids, received the Organizational Leadership Award.

Nicholas Carducci, a soldier in the U.S. Army, was honored by the U.S. Army Racing Team and champion Top Fuel driver Tony Schumacher at the NHRA Nationals on Oct. 20 at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Carducci, a 2005 graduate of Western High School, has received the Bronze Star and two Purple Hearts.

He plays football in the Las Vegas Sports League and helps Las Vegas youths improve themselves by providing them with opportunities through the Army.

Joe Micatrotto has been appointed to the United Way of Southern Nevada's board of directors.

Micatrotto helped the organization's Young Philanthropists Society grow from two to 80 members.

Dean Elyacoubi has been appointed co-chair of the United Way of Southern Nevada's Young Philanthropists Society.

The organization celebrated its two-year anniversary with a reception at the Brett Wesley Gallery on Oct. 26.

For the past two years, the group has focused its efforts on Hollingsworth Elementary School, impacting 740 students with 300 hours of volunteering, 24 service projects and fundraising totaling $250,000.

Mark LoRusso, executive chef at Botero at Encore, was selected as the 2011 Culinarian of the Year by the Nevada Restaurant Association at the organization's annual Culinary Excellence Awards gala Oct. 27 at Canyon Gate Country Club.

"I am pleased to have been chosen as Culinarian of the Year by the Nevada Restaurant Association," LoRusso said. "It is flattering and exciting to be in the company of my fellow nominees and to be recognized by an organization that shows great commitment to the culinary industry and Las Vegas community, but I couldn't have done it alone. I share this honor with my great staff at Botero."

A graduate of the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, N.Y., LoRusso has served as executive chef of Michael Mina's Aqua at Bellagio and was executive chef at Aureole in New York City.

Magdalena Cornett will represent The Art Institute of Las Vegas in the finals of the national Cool vs. Cruel Fashion Design Competition.

The competition is sponsored by The Humane Society of the United States and The Art Institutes.

As a finalist, Cornett received a cash prize and was entered in the national competition.

The national grand-prize winner will receive an expense-paid, weeklong internship with a celebrated designer from the panel of judges.

Las Vegas Color Graphics has won two 2011 Gold Ink Awards, the creative industry's print competition.

The competition is open to all creators and producers of printed materials, including advertising agencies, book and magazine publishers, paper companies, printers, etc.

LVCC won silver for its Harrah's Reno NYE invitation 2011 invitation, and pewter for its MGM Grand Epic Poker invitation.
