ART GALLERY GIVES TO AREA HOSPITAL

Martin Lawrence Galleries inside The Forum Shops at Caesars, 3500 Las Vegas Blvd. South, recently presented a $5,669 check to representatives from the University Medical Center Trauma and Burn Care Center .

The donation represents proceeds raised through ticket sales and a raffle from the recent The Art of The Party gala hosted at the gallery.

COOPERATIVE EXTENSION
MASTER GARDENER TO HOST CLASS

Clark County Cooperative Extension Master Gardener Helen Brown plans to lead a fall gardening class at 10 a.m. today the Family Resource Center at University Medical Center, 1120 Shadow Lane.

The cooler weather gardening class is free and open to the public.

SPRINGS PRESERVE SEEKS SUBMISSIONS
FOR Day of the Dead building contest

The Springs Preserve, 333 S. Valley View Blvd., is looking for participants for its Day of the Dead building contest.

The preserve will award $5,000 to the person who builds the best altar and Catrina sculptures out of recycled materials.

All art pieces will be displayed during the preserve's fourth annual Day of the Dead celebration in November.

VOLUNTEERS SOUGHT
FOR AARP TAX PROGRAM

AARP Tax-Aide NV, which prepares free personal income tax returns for residents in the lower- to middle-income brackets, is seeking volunteers to prepare taxes, greet clients and program computers in early 2013. Training is scheduled for Jan. 7-11 on the west side of the Las Vegas Valley and Jan. 21-25 on the east side.
