$75 MAMMOGRAMS OFFERED
DURING OCTOBER AT SUNRISE HOSPITAL

Sunrise Hospital & Medical Center, 3186 S. Maryland Parkway, is offering $75 mammograms to uninsured or underinsured women through October for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. SITE PLAN FOR HISTORIC WESTSIDE
SCHOOL TO BE UNVEILED

The city of Las Vegas plans to unveil its site plan for the Historic Westside School at its final community meeting from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. today at the Doolittle Community Center, 1950 N. J St.

The final master plan, designed by KME Architects with the public's recommendations for uses and amenities, includes restoration plans of the school's historic features and the hope for reuse as a community gathering place.

The plan outlines several features, including a plaza for outdoor events, offices, retail space, an art sculpture, a bookstore, an exhibit hall and facilities for KCEP Radio. Construction drawings will be the next step in the process after the meeting.

PARKING RATES LOWERED AT NEONOPOLIS GARAGE TO LURE MORE VISITORS

The city of Las Vegas is lowering parking rates in the Neonopolis parking garage, 450 Fremont St.

The first hour of parking is free, with each additional hour costing $1 and a $5 maximum charge. Parking also is available for $35 per month.

Rates were previously $1.50 per hour with a maximum $36 charge if the car was parked for 24 hours.

Officials hope the change in rates will encourage people to visit the Fremont East Entertainment District and the Neonopolis commercial center.

HARVEST FESTIVAL TO INCLUDE CRAFTS, FOOD AND HALLOWEEN PARTY

The Las Vegas Chapter of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, 1601 E. Washington Ave., is set to host its third annual harvest festival from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday.

A crafts bazaar featuring items from local craftsmen and a bake sale and pie-eating contest are ongoing throughout the festival.

Lunch, which includes pulled pork sandwiches or cheese ravioli with butternut squash and various side dishes, costs $7 and is scheduled to be served at 1 p.m.

A children's Halloween party is set to follow at 2 p.m., with the event concluding with a drawing for a red Wii slated for 5 p.m.

SENIORS OFFERED FREE MEETINGS
WITH ATTORNEYS Wednesday

Senior citizens can meet with a local attorney for a 15-minute period at no cost from 1 to 4 p.m. Wednesday at the East Las Vegas Community & Senior Center, 250 N. Eastern Ave.

Participants must be Clark County residents and at least 60 years old.

The event is part of National Pro Bono Week, which promotes the idea of finding more attorneys willing to accept cases without compensation.

MAYOR'S URBAN DESIGN AWARD
NOMINEES SOUGHT

Nominations for the sixth annual Mayor's Urban Design Awards will be accepted through Nov. 4. Winners will be projects that exemplify sustainability, livability, safety, conservation and more. The four award categories are buildings and their environs, public places, historic preservation/adaptive reuse and public art. City Mayor Carolyn Goodman will present the winners at the State of the City address in April 2012.
