PUBLIC MEETINGS TO ADDRESS PROPOSED EXPANSION OF REDEVELOPMENT AREA

Two neighborhood meetings are planned to provide information and receive community input on the proposed expansion of the city of Las Vegas’ redevelopment area to portions of wards 3 and 5.

The city Redevelopment Agency has scheduled the meetings for 6 p.m. June 25 for Ward 5 at the Doolittle Community Center, 1950 N. J St.; and 5 p.m. June 27 for Ward 3 at the Italian-American Club, 2333 E. Sahara Ave.

The redevelopment agency uses property taxes from new businesses to invest in the redevelopment area in an attempt to attract new private investment and create new jobs.

Property owners have the option to opt out of being part of the redevelopment area expansion.

KIDS TO CREATE SUNCATCHERS

GARSIDE POOL GROUNDBREAKING SCHEDULED FOR JUNE 25

The groundbreaking ceremony for the new Garside Pool is scheduled for
8:30 a.m. June 25 at the north side of the pool parking lot, 300 S. Torrey Pines Drive. Las Vegas City Councilwoman Lois Tarkanian is scheduled to attend.

BINGO GAME TO HELP CHILDREN
CELEBRATE FOURTH OF JULY

NONPROFIT GROUPS TO RUB ELBOWS,
SHARE INFORMATION AT GATHERING

A munch-and-mingle event for nonprofits is scheduled from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 26 at the Clark County Library, 1401 E. Flamingo Road.

Members of non profit organizations are invited to bring their lunch and meet informally to share information and ideas.

BUS SERVICE CHANGES TO START JULY 7

The Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada plans to implement its annual transit service changes July 7.

After receiving public feedback, modifications will include increased frequencies, schedule and span-of-service adjustments and modifications to the Boulder Highway Express (BHX), the Henderson & Downtown Express (HDX), Route 212-Sunset Road and Route 402-Sunset/Boulder City. Also, boarding changes are proposed on the Sahara Express (SX), BHX and HDX.

CAMP CARTWHEEL SET FOR JULY

Registration is open for the Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation’s 17th annual Camp Cartwheel Summer Camp for critically ill children and their siblings, planned for July 17-20 and 24-27 at Torino Ranch in Lovell Canyon.

The program includes swimming, scuba diving, arts and crafts, canoeing and outdoor games for campers, ages 5-17.
