The Desert Chorale's Memorial Day Extravaganza, directed by its founder Nancy Helm and backed by guests the Nevada Pops, is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Friday at Artemus Ham Hall at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, 4505 S. The Desert Chorale has been a fixture in the Las Vegas arts community for more than 25 years and is committed to bringing high-quality music to residents free of charge. The Fremont Street Experience, 425 Fremont St., plans to host the Rock of Vegas concert series beginning with Vince Neil, lead singer of Motley Crue, at 9 p.m. Saturday on the Third Street Stage. A public reception and awards ceremony for the 12th annual Celebrating Life! fine arts competition for residents 50 or older is slated from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Charleston Heights Arts Center, 800 S. The Snow Mountain Pow Wow at the Las Vegas Paiute Tribe's Snow Mountain Indian Reservation is scheduled from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday near U.S. Highway 95 at exit 95. Southern Highlands has scheduled its 10th annual Memorial Day celebration from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday at Stonewater Park, in the 3800 block of Stonewater Lane. The event is free and open to the public. The Nellis Air Force Base Honor Guard plans to present the colors as the band plays "The Star-Spangled Banner," followed by a military fly-over. A Kids Zone is planned with water slides, bounce houses, carnival games, face painters and field games. Guests can purchase tickets to a barbecue and attend a country-rock concert by Stetzen.
