Habitat Division biologist Clint Garrett was named the winner of the Ted C. Frantz Employee of the Year Award for the Nevada Department of Wildlife.
In December, Comprehensive Cancer Centers of Nevada announced the organization has hired Jennifer Lucisano as practice director of clinical operations and Michael Thayer as practice director of administrative operations.
Johnlord Sy of Las Vegas was named a Cadet of Distinction at Army and Navy Academy. This title is given to students who have achieved the highest citizenship grade attainable (Excellent) and zero demerits for the entire second grading period of the 2015-16 school year. The academy also named Duran Heath, Drayson Little and Thomas Yoo, all of Las Vegas, to the dean's list for the 2015-16 school year.
U.S. Air Force Airman Nicholas Thigpen graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio. Thigpen is the son of Mark and Julie Thigpen and grandson of Kay Duey, all of Las Vegas. He is a 2013 graduate of Southwest Career and Technical Academy.
Arlene Amanda Blanchar of Las Vegas graduated from Brenau University in Norcross, Ga., with a M.S.O.T. degree Dec. 12.
Sean Antonuccio, a member of the football team at Bates College in Lewiston, Maine, received New England Small College Athletic Conference All-Academic distinction for the fall 2015 season. He is the son of Nicholas D. Antonuccio of Las Vegas.
Garrett Meyer of Henderson made the fall 2015 dean's list at Eastern New Mexico University.
Christopher Ray of Las Vegas made the fall semester/term 2 Chancellor's List at Troy University in Alabama.
U.S. Army Pvt. Branden J. Gates graduated from basic infantry training at Fort Jackson, S.C. Gates is the son of Kesha Parks of North Las Vegas and is a 2015 graduate of Mojave High School.
U.S. Army Pvt. Justin M. Carter graduated from basic infantry training at Fort Jackson, S.C. Carter is the son of Maria Fehlig of Las Vegas and is a 2015 graduate of Centennial High School.
Oregon University announced area students made the Scholastic Honor Roll, including Danielle L. Dessaints and Cadyn T. Grenier, both of Henderson; and Bruno M. Maraccini, Cassidy C. Medellin and Wyatt T. Morris, all of Las Vegas.
Air Force 2nd Lt. Kimberly Bergo graduated from Specialized Undergraduate Pilot Training at Columbus Air Force Base, Miss. She is a 2010 graduate of Shadow Ridge High School, Las Vegas. She earned a master's degree in 2014 from United States Air Force Academy, Colorado Springs, Colo.
