Dust advisory issued ahead of windy weather

After a week of above normal spring temperatures in Las Vegas, winds are expected to pick up Tuesday and stir up some dust.

The Clark County Department of Air Quality and Environmental Management released an air advisory Monday morning for dust on Tuesday.

The department does not expect unhealthy levels of dust, but it urges residents and construction workers to take precautions to prevent blowing dust such as driving slowly on unpaved roads, avoiding shortcuts on vacant lots and covering up barren property.

Airborne dust can aggravate respiratory diseases such as asthma and bronchitis. Officials suggest that those affected with respiratory diseases stay indoors when the wind kicks up.

Updates on the valley’s air condition by the Air Quality Department can be monitored at http://redrock.clarkcountynv.gov/forecast/.
