Father, son who drowned at Lake Mohave identified

A father and his young son who died after falling into Lake Mohave on Sunday have been identified as Pablo Cortez, 37, and Angel Gabriel Hernandez, 3, both of North Las Vegas.

Officials with the National Park Service said Cortez and Hernandez fell off a raft. Neither was wearing a flotation device. 

Las Vegas police Lt. Les Lane said the incident occurred was reported at 11:18 a.m. at Six Mile Cove near Searchlight.

Swimmers spotted the man and his son floating in the water about 25 yards from the shoreline.

Bystanders and emergency officials were not able to revive the man. The boy was airlifted to University Medical Center, where he later died.

The Clark County coroner has not determined the cause and manner of their deaths.
