Fire in electrical sign damages northwest Las Vegas pawn shop

Las Vegas firefighters responded to a fire at a pawn shop in the northwest valley late Monday night.

Upon arrival, firefighters found smoke inside Super Pawn, 5910 W. Lake Mead Blvd., near Jones Boulevard, fire officials said in a news release.

The fire was discovered inside the wall behind an electric sign on the front of the store. After cutting a hole in the wall, firefighters were able to bring the fire under control, the release said.

Automatic sprinklers inside the business prevented the fire from spreading into the attic, fire officials said.

The store was closed at the time of the fire. No injuries were reported.

Damage was contained to the outside wall and the attic. Damage cost was estimated at $25,000.
