Fremont Street at Eastern Avenue reopens after fatal crash Wednesday morning
A 77-year-old man is dead after being struck by an SUV in the intersection of Fremont Street and Eastern Avenue Wednesday morning, police say.
Crossing Eastern outside of a marked crosswalk at 5:43 a.m., the man entered the path of a 1999 Isuzu Amigo approaching a green light, a Metro release said.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Kenneth Mason, the 54-year-old driver of the SUV, came to an immediate stop and cooperated with police, the release said.
While police investigated the crash, the intersection was closed until about 10 a.m.
The Clark County coroner's office will release the man's identity after next of kin has been notified.
This is the 110th traffic-related fatality in Metro's jurisdiction.
