Henderson lawyer arrested in theft from two clients

Henderson personal injury lawyer William K. Errico was arrested Friday on felony charges in the theft of $487,698 from two of his clients.

Errico, 53, was booked into the Clark County Detention Center on two counts of theft, one count of exploitation of the elderly and one count of exploitation of a vulnerable person. Bail was initially set at $100,000.

He’s scheduled to make an initial appearance on the charges before Las Vegas Justice of the Peace Deborah Lippis on Tuesday.

Between July 2007 and August 2008, Errico stole $121,485 from a $300,000 insurance settlement he won for Deeann Clark, an elderly woman, according to a criminal complaint filed back in January.

The complaint and a Las Vegas police report of the investigation into Errico’s activities also detailed the theft of $366,213 from another client, Wilfred Bosserman, who was severely injured and institutionalized following an automobile accident. The money was stolen between July 2009 and February 2012 from a $1 million settlement Errico had obtained for Bosserman.

During the investigation, Bosserman’s mother secretly recorded a meeting she had with Errico at his law office to complain about his handling of the insurance settlement. Intelligence detectives followed her to the office and remained nearby until she came outside.

David Clark, bar counsel for the State Bar of Nevada, said he has filed a formal complaint against Errico involving the victims in the criminal case and is scheduling a hearing before a disciplinary panel.

Clients have filed grievances against Errico in the past, Clark said.

On his Henderson firm’s website, Errico, a member of the State Bar of Nevada since October 1998, says he has more than 21 years experience in insurance claims.
