Hiker dies at Lone Mountain

Police are recovering the body of a man who collapsed and died while hiking at Lone Mountain Park, according to Las Vegas police.

Metro officers were called just before 3 p.m. Wednesday to the park near Lone Mountain Road and the 215 Beltway, said department spokesman Officer Larry Hadfield.

The man may have had a medical episode, a Metro lieutenant said. Search and rescue crews responded and found the man dead.

It is unclear if the hiker, who police described only as a man, was alive when police were first called.

"Nothing looks suspicious," Hadfield said. He did not know if the man was hiking alone.

The coroner's office will release the man's identity after his family has been notified.
