Metro is investigating a body found Wednesday afternoon in Mountain Springs, an unincorporated area of Clark County that sits just south of the Spring Mountain range and in between Las Vegas and Pahrump.
Officers reported to the area just before 4 p.m. after a hiker found the body and called police, said Metro Lt. Harry Demetrus. But because the site was so rural the body wasn't located until later that night.
By around 9 p.m. police were still on scene. Metro Lt. David Gordon said Search & Rescue would recover the body Thursday morning.
It was unclear whether the death was being investigated as a homicide.
