John Fredericks’ funeral to be open to public
A public memorial service will be held Dec. 8 for John Fredericks, a former Channel 3 weatherman, who died Friday at the age of 57.
For 12 years, Fredericks forecasted the weather for thousands of viewers, his golden lab Jordan by his side.
But when the dog died in August 2007, Fredericks hit rock bottom and started drinking to cope with his depression, friends and co-workers said.
For a while, Fredericks moved to Montana to start a new life but returned to Las Vegas, where he died at a local hospice last week.
The service, which will celebrate Fredericks' life, will start at 10 a.m. Dec. 8 at Canyon Ridge Christian Church. Early arrival is recommended, and seating will start at 9:30 a.m.
