Las Vegas homicide suspect arrested in California

A man was arrested in California Monday in connection with a February homicide in Las Vegas.

Dwayne Lawson, 36, was located during a Jan. 4 pedestrian stop in Fairfield, Calif., according to a release from Metro.

Lawson was booked into the Fairfield Solano County Justice Center Detention Facility on an outstanding warrant for murder with a deadly weapon in connection with the homicide of Che Obi Eaddy, 35. Lawson is awaiting extradition to Las Vegas, according to police.

Police were dispatched to an apartment complex in the 5700 block of Missouri Avenue, near Boulder Highway and Tropicana Avenue, about 4:48 p.m. on Feb. 13 to investigate multiple reports of gunshots, according to Metro. Arriving officers found Eaddy on a walkway in front of an apartment with multiple gunshot wounds.

Homicide investigators indicated that Eaddy heard a knock at the door of his apartment while home with family members. He answered the door, stepped outside and was shot multiple times, according to police.

The shooting may have been related to an earlier verbal altercation between Eaddy and another person, police said.

Eaddy was taken to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. The coroner determined his cause of death as a gunshot wound to the torso.
