Las Vegas man killed in auto-pedestrian accident Friday identified

A man killed when he was struck by a car Friday night has been identified.

The Clark County coroner’s office identified the man as Jose Lopez Macias, a 64-year-old Las Vegas resident, who was killed about 8 p.m. on Alta Drive at Easy Street, near Decatur Boulevard. His death was ruled an accident.

According to a Metro news release, Lopez Macias was possibly lying or sitting in the road before the collision took place. The driver of a 1995 Pontiac Trans Sport said he saw a vehicle ahead of him swerve to avoid the man in the road, but he wasn’t able to swerve out of the way as well, the release said.

It is unknown if the driver of the Pontiac was arrested, or if impairment played a factor in this crash.
