Las Vegas police investigate child’s death at Boulder Highway apartment

Las Vegas police are investigating the death of a baby boy in the east valley Tuesday morning.

Police received the call about 2:30 a.m. Abuse and neglect investigators were at the scene at Sportsman’s Royal Manor apartments, 5600 Boulder Highway, where a 6-month-old boy was reportedly not breathing.

The infant was taken to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, Metro spokeswoman Laura Meltzer said.

Abuse and neglect detectives typically investigate child deaths, and it is unknown at this time whether abuse or neglect were factors in the child’s death, Meltzer said.

She said no one is in custody, and investigators will wait for the Clark County coroner’s office to determine the cause and manner of death before the investigation proceeds.
