Man arrested after backing into northeast valley neighbor’s home

A man who police said may have been impaired was arrested late Tuesday after a neighbor’s northeast valley home was backed into, causing “major damage.”

The man was backing out of his own house when police said he continued across the street and rammed into a neighbor’s home on the 3900 block of Steinbeck Drive, near Alexander Road and Lamb Boulevard, Metropolitan Police Department Lt. David Gordon said.

The man did not seem injured, but Gordon said the damage to the neighbor’s home was significant. It was unclear whether the people who live there were home at the time.

Police suspected the driver was impaired and took him into custody shortly after the incident.
